School Counselor / Staff Therapist

Full-Time | W-2 Position

Transcend Counseling Chicago is seeking a full-time Licensed Social Worker (LSW)/ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to serve in a dual role as a part-time School Counselor and part-time Staff Therapist. This position is ideal for clinicians who enjoy variety in their work or who love school-based counseling and are seeking a blend of in-school services and private practice clients.

Position Overview

This role combines school-based mental health services with outpatient therapy in a supportive group practice setting.

School Counselor (2 days per week)
The School Counselor will work under a year-long contract with a local parochial school, providing comprehensive mental health services to youth ages 5–15, and their families, during the school day. Responsibilities may include individual counseling, case management, IEP development, coordination with home school mental health staff, aid in working with emotionally/behaviorally challenged youth in their classrooms, and facilitation of social-emotional and evidence-based groups. Work hours will conform to school expectations; typically 8am - 4pm, with some variance for special events or presentations.

Staff Therapist (3 days per week)
The Staff Therapist will market to, develop, and maintain a caseload of 15 private practice clients, including primarily children and adolescents, with some parent work. This portion of the role includes afternoon, evening and potentially weekend hours, in office, and will be based out of Transcend Counseling Chicago’s Bucktown and Humboldt Park offices.

Position Details

  • Structure: Full-time W-2 position (expect 40 hours/week)

  • Anticipated Start Date: Flexible

  • Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000

  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, 401K with match, Paid time off, and supervised hours toward licensure.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (LSW required)

  • Experience working with children and adolescents

  • Experience facilitating groups or providing presentation

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing mental health services in a school setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy services in an outpatient setting, including evenings and weekends

  • Deliver Tier 1, 2, and 3 interventions and therapeutic services on-site at a local parochial school two days per week

  • Facilitate groups and provide community education for parents and school staff

  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation

  • Collaborate with Transcend Counseling Chicago’s administrative and clinical teams

Clinical Therapist

Work Location: Hybrid (3–4 days onsite at our Humboldt Park Location, 3541 W. North Ave.)

Compensation

Salary Range:

  • $50,000–$60,000 for provisionally licensed clinicians

  • $60,000–$75,000 (for fully independently licensed clinicians (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, Licensed Clinical Psychologist), commensurate with experience, supervision responsibilities, and clinical load

Position Overview

Transcend Counseling Chicago is seeking a motivated and clinically skilled Therapist / Clinical Supervisor to join our growing outpatient practice. This role is open to both fully licensed clinicians and clinicians working toward independent licensure who demonstrate strong clinical skills, leadership potential, and interest in supervision.

The position combines direct clinical work with opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and leadership within a collaborative and supportive practice environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a mental health–related field

  • Active Illinois licensure or license-eligible status (LPC, LSW, LMFT, LCSW, Licensed Clinical Psychologist)

  • Experience working in an outpatient mental health setting

  • Strong clinical judgment, organization, and communication skills

  • Interest in supervision, leadership, and professional development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full independent licensure in Illinois (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, Licensed Clinical Psychologist)

  • Prior experience providing clinical supervision or mentoring clinicians

  • For Psychologists: experience and/or interest in psychological testing and assessment

  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including couples, families, groups, children, and/or adolescents

  • Proficiency in a language other than English

  • Previous private practice experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy services (25 paid clinical hrs/week) to a diverse outpatient client population

  • Take an active role in building and maintaining your caseload by marketing, such as building a strong online presence on various therapist referral sites, building a referral network, and engaging in outreach and networking events.

  • Participate in individual and/or group clinical supervision (role and level adjusted based on licensure status)

  • For fully licensed clinicians: provide clinical supervision to pre-licensed staff as appropriate

  • For Psychologists: conduct psychological testing and provide assessment supervision (if applicable)

  • Collaborate with the administrative and leadership team to support high-quality clinical care and practice operations

  • Contribute to a supportive, ethical, and inclusive clinical culture



Part-Time Contract Therapist

Structure: Part-Time, 1099 position. Expected 5+ hours per week. Virtual with optional office use, as available and agreed upon.

Anticipated Start Date: Flexible.

Fee Split: Commensurate with experience. Practice absorbs Stripe processing fees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate Degree in Mental Health (e.g., MA, MSW, Psy.D./PhD)

  • Independent license to practice in Illinois (LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist).

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver psychotherapy services with at least 5 paid client sessions a week.

  • Carry independent malpractice insurance coverage.

  • Keep up to date on notes and administrative duties.

  • Accurately code all client sessions for accurate insurance billing.

  • Collaborate with administrative team at Transcend Counseling Chicago.

  • Optional: Participate in group supervision/consultation.

  • Potential for transition to a full-time position if desired and mutually agreed upon.

Practice Support:

  • Full billing team support: All insurance billing submissions and troubleshooting.

  • Use of EHR software for all client payments, insurance claims, clinical documentation, and Telehealth video platform.

  • Additional malpractice insurance coverage.

  • Optional: Supplementary individual supervision with one of the Practice owners.

  • Negotiable: Use of two office locations (Humboldt Park and Bucktown); subject to availability.
