Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
We work with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. We frequently work with people experiencing life transitions, challenges with work-life balance or career concerns, and relationship or family concerns.

Generally, it’s best to find a few online profiles for therapists, or ask friends or trusted others, who they have had success with. Once you have a few clinicians that you feel confident about, you can arrange for times to complete a short consultation. In that consultation you should be evaluating your fit with that clinician, and their level of expertise in dealing with situations similar to your own.
-
We recommend that you check out a few different clinicians. You may want to take a look at what a clinician’s license (the letters behind their name) or education are. In addition, it is important to figure out how they practice (in-person, or virtually), and what types of therapy they are proficient at (Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Internal Family Systems, or Dialectical Behavioral).
-
Many clinicians accept different forms of insurance. Always ask whether your insurance is included in their in-network options. At this point, you should contact your insurance company (from the phone number on the back of your ID card), to explore what services are covered, and whether the clinician you have decided upon, is considered in-network for your insurance plan. Typically there is a portion of the service that is covered by your insurance, and a portion of the service that you will be responsible for paying. Remember, any information given to you either by your insurance company, or by the provider, is only an estimate.

While situations vary, it is important to see your clinician frequently enough that you are able to make progress. In many cases, this means weekly sessions.
Expect your therapist to request that you meet weekly in order to move you toward your goals. Remember, the brain is a muscle, which responds well to regular exercise.

People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons, but it is usually because something feels “off” and it’s difficult to find a way to get unstuck. Therapy helps by offering a space where you and a trusted, confidential expert work together to find ways to make healthy changes in how you approach difficult situations.
